The Umbrian beginning of summer is full of appointments related to music; Festival dei Due Mondi, Umbria Jazz, Cambio Festival, and Trasimeno Blues are events of international level that any enthusiast shouldn’t be missed. Temporally close together (around July), the four events are, in effect, only the most famous of the many festivals of music and entertainment spread across the region and they highlight a cultural and artistic movement very broad and varied.
The Spoleto Festival or the Due Mondi Festival (June 28, 2019 – July 14, 2019) is an international exhibition of art, music and entertainment that takes place every year in the Umbrian village ancient capital of the Duchy. The event takes place since 1958 and it was among the first major cultural events born in Europe. As the name suggests, since its first edition, the intention of the Festival dei Due Mondi (of Two Worlds) has been to merge, with originality and creativity, the European artistic culture with the American one. The planned shows offer unique and innovative representations in a continuous search for a fusion between classical tradition and modernity, in a natural, architectural and cultural stage as the theater-town of Spoleto.
Umbria Jazz (July 12 to 21, 2019) is the musical event of the summer in Perugia for over 40 years. It offers events and concerts in the streets of Perugia and related events throughout Umbria. In the splendid setting of the medieval castle of Palazzo di Assisi, born from a passion for music of a group of friends, it takes place Cambio Festival 2018 (July 31 to 10 August). This music festival started in 2000 to create opportunities for meetings, evening entertainment and deepening of contemporary music culture. You can attend concerts, exhibitions, and film screenings. As written by the creators of Cambio Festival, the event turns his attention to: “experimentation, research into the contaminations to overcome the barriers between musical genres, artistic disciplines, historical periods, cultural roots.”
Trasimeno Lake and its charming natural landscape are hosting one of the most important events of blues, soul and rock in Italy: Trasimeno Blues Festival (July 25 to August 3, 2019), with concerts of the best national and international performers of the kind of music. The medieval villages of Castiglione del Lago, Citta della Pieve, Magione, Paciano, Panicale, Passignano, Tuoro and Piegaro are the stage for concerts, exhibitions and events 100% Black Music. The best of Blues sound, the rhythm of Funk, Rhythm’n’Blues, Nu-Blues, Electro, Afrobeat, associated with the visit of the artistic and natural beauty of Trasimeno Lake, and the tastings of wines and local produce (in the related event “White Red & Blues”) make the holiday in Umbria memorable.
These events are an excellent opportunity to visit Umbria. We suggest, therefore, some holiday houses to stay.
